Puerto Plata is one of the most fascinating spots of Dominican Republic. If you intend driving, the Duarte Highway will take you approximately 2.5 from San Domingo to get to there. For those taking the cable car, your journey will start from Isabel de Torres which is high above a hill and you will get to see the beautiful city of Puerto Plata. Visitors with children and those seeking something a little more adventurous will enjoy Ocean World Adventure Park, located 3 miles west of Puerto Plata. Combining a plush casino, a world-class marina and an aquarium for marine life, visitors can enjoy a total of 22 waterfalls, swim with dolphins, take photos with tigers and exotic birds, have a sunset dinner or pool-side drink with spectacular ocean views, or enjoy a Vegas-style tropical cabaret show. Programs range from dolphin and sea lion to stingray and shark encounters, all under expert supervision and with plenty of opportunities for taking photographs while interacting with these amazing creatures. Ocean World is a great day out for the whole family, and offers fun and excitement for everyone, whether actually participating in an animal encounter, or simply enjoying the animals and tropical surroundings.

Even though you are not a guest at a resort, some resorts may allow you to use their amenities for a small fee or entirely free. The Holiday Golden Beach, Paradise Beach Club have casinos which the public can use. If you intend to use the casino at the resort, there is a minimum amount you have to pay and they have cigarettes on the table for those that smoke.

If you are into dancing, most resorts in Puerto Plata having dance nights especially on Sundays'. They play music such as bachata, hip-hop, reggaeton and other forms of music. If you move with the younger crowds, you can check out Paradise Beach Club, it is located by the Caribbean Village, and they cater to teens in their late teens and twenties.
